I was actually going to carry on from an old thread on this discussion, but decided to start afresh with my spin on the conversion. The link to the original is here and well worth a read and a good read at that. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...s-70896/page1/
I bought not only the US style Mustang TPS but also an Australian equivalent Ford EB Falcon TPS, I will post the links to both at the end. The first thing that I found the mustang TPS does not go high enough in resistance to achieve the voltage required at idle which should be between 0.32v to 0.36v. The Mustang TPS or depending on brand will give a reading of around 0.5v to 0.6v, this can be easily be fixed by simply removing the the cover of TPS and finding the half moon start and stop position and simply removing 2-3mm from the start side (at rest side). Now at rest you will have a much higher resistance giving you a voltage right down near 0.1v that’s perfect. I actually found that the TPS for a EB Ford Falcon goes down that far so I used it instead of the Mustang one.
My method I machined a a little brass adapter that goes from the Jag throttle to the Ford TPS, then I machined a piece of scrap Aluminium plate to mount the Ford TPS to the Jag Capstan housing, This is where it works better, I slotted the housing so you can adjust it, I set mine at rest to give 0.344v and that has to be on the money. All these bits where made on a trail and error basis but still cost me nothing but a little time, its just a another way at looking at things and a making a good workaround that does the job.
You will notice two holes in Aluminium plate that don’t seem to belong these where holes already in the scrap piece and have absolutely nothing to do with the conversion. Early next year I should a little more time (I hope fingers crossed) and if others are interested I can run a few of these through my machines, if members need one I can supply at a minimal cost. If not I’m happy for others to use design and make their own.

Its funny how we adapt things that shouldn’t be there but they seem to work and work well at that, what you described I have have done many times and you just simply forget about it while its still working but when it comes to holt you look at it and think who the hell did this s**t then remember it was you, Bugger, just hope that the fix was better than the original and out lasts us coming back to it. HaHa
i use a simple potentiometer/reostat, volume control, from Radio shack 20yrs ago, still works great.
something about old American hot rodders, we do things never knowing it wont work(so im told), but still works fine!
cost around $3.00 dollars back then, have no idea what it may cost today, cant be much!
As I have said too many times, Jags are NOT complicated, the owners are, or make them so.
Not much on a Jag, or any other car for that matter, is SPECIFIC to that car. Stuff is being used by someone, somewhere, and it is deemed suitable for other makes, Jags included. Maybe a bit of tweeking here and there, but the same.
Ok, some stuff is specfic, V12 dist cap etc.
The CTS, is a Bosch unit, used on Merc, Volvo, SAAB, Ford, Holden, etc etc. Different coloured plastic top, WHO CARES, it works. Etc etc etc.
