Default Jaguar Lattice Wheels

Does anyone know how the Lattice wheels are finished??? Are they bare aluminum? Or are they simply cleared? Or are they painted?
Daim has a set of the Lattice wheels that are polished on the outer lip only, and I would like to duplicate the process. I'd just like to have an Idea of what I'm up against. If they are painted, I've come up against some Factory wheel paint, that is pretty damn tough, and you end up harming the aluminum, trying to remove it. If anyone has some experience with refinishing/ polishing these wheels, I would sure appreciate any help . Thanks 89 Jacobra

Two methods I have used is either a bath of brake fluid for about 24 hours, that followed by pressure washing takes off oil based paint. It won't touch anything that is latex based. The other option is baking soda blasting. It's very gentle and can take off paint one layer at a time. Might be tough to blast in the lattice though.

I'll be watching this thread with interest. I imagine I will be traveling down this path in the future. I wonder if the powder coat guys might have an answer.

Get the paint removed, find a rim repair compamy, let them polish the edge and then get them powder coated. That is how mine will be redone.

I had some earlier Kent alloys sandblasted. Don't do that.

Please, go on. What fun ensued? Did they warp?

No, didn't warp, as I wasn't that aggressive with them. However, it did leave a rough finish that shows through the paint. Fortunately, a hubcap covers most of the wheel on my Daimler so it didn't show too much.

It always depends on how you do it. Most i portamt thing: don't use sand to sandblast them Aluminium should be bead blasted (glass pearls) to not only remove the crud but also improve the surface. Even really bad corrosion, deep in the aterial is removed easily. I've had rims blasted a few times and then powder coated... Not once has it been a problem
