You might want to test the pinout of the ECU connector for expected values before plugging back in. Also check your connections at the power resistors. IF that unit or connection is bad, it can burn out the ECU because the ECU might try to hold the injectors open on the *peak* side (high current) rather than through the resistor block *hold current* side.
With battery out, check all the grounds to the ECU. Check for continuity between the two "ON" pins, and continuity with small resistance between "ON" pins and their respective "Hold" pins. THen put the battery back in and check for +12V power on ECU power, and then momentarily on "star signal power from starter relay." There should also be +12V power (with key on) available at every single Injector pin (hold and "on"). And +12V power available at "Fuel Pump relay Control" If you want to test the most critical sensor input, then check for what Ohm value you get across the coolant temp sensor input, and TPS/CTS ground).. or create a jumper loop at the CTS plug and check for full continuity. All sensor inputs should be dead (no power).
Its often worth cleaning the power resistor connector, and very gently slightly widening the tips of the pins w/ an Xacto knife. (and check resistance as well.)
