Some really good analysis and discussion about the future value of the XJS.

Interesting observations. The large production numbers will always work to keep values down. You do have to wonder how many are actually still on the road, or in someone's driveway. I'll bet more than half have been scrapped over the years. I do think that values are climbing. Maybe not like an E type, but if your 5,000 dollar car goes up to 10,000, that's pretty significant. While the XK8 is a beautiful car, it is in reality just a used car. The XJS is now old enough that it rarely seen on the road. Since I started driving my convertible I've noticed how it turns heads! Now that E types are trading for really big money what else is a collector or fan to consider but an XJS?

No... too many built. The XJC is the next E-type for many reasons. Few built, fewer left, Sir Williams Lyons last design and the styling has broader appeal.
Technically speaking the XJS is a far better vehicle stiffer structure, better window sealing and far better aerodynamics with the exact same compliant ride and sharp handling. All of the XJC's problems were sorted on the XJS. The face lift batch are the Best by far but when it comes to collecting scarcity and aesthetics are paramount.
