Default Jay Leno's opinion of the XJS

This is a video showing an excellent XJC. However, at about 3:30 into the video he says this:
"As 20 years go by this (the XJC) holds up better than the XJS. The XJS looks a little bulbous". BULBOUS!!!
Hummmm.

Full video here:

opinions are like butts ,everybody has one!!
Jays opinion is not always the best , he also says the Merlin 1650 V12 was the best WW2 aircraft engine ,, today the Allison 1710 V12 has been recognized as the a better engine, just corprate BS/money that screwed things up!

but thats not to say that ALL Jays opinions are disputed, he got some of the best for sure , i like him! Utube Lenos garage , 1957 Chev Corvette White /sliver inset, best lookin 57 vette ever , far better lookin than E roadster! my opinion!

Don’t agree with Jay’s opinion about XJS (though I am probably biased ), but I actually liked the car they were looking at. Very classic. Nice Jag!

The XJ-C is beautiful, but bulbous is the wrong word to describe the XJS . - Anyone is entitled to dislike any car, but that’s just a bad description. I may call today’s Jaguars “bulbous” in that they are wide and massive and not so proportionate.

I like Jay, though. I like him talk about cars. It’s nit like listening to that idiot Doug DeMuro who thinks he invented the wheel and giggles like a little girl at anything that is vintage.

Doug is too young to properly understand the XJ-S for what it is. He is a year younger than me and most of my friends don't get the XJ-S either...

He’s not that much younger than I am. He is your stereotypical man-child that acts, dresses, looks and speaks and rationalizes like a perpetual adolescent that gives all of us born after 1980 a bad name.

Almost inevitably, every time he gets a vintage Italian car nameplate(before being made part of some huge conglomerate), or any older car for that matter, he laughs and giggles at the “hilarious” quirks. Any man who derides the work of his predecessors without even understanding the reasoning behind it, is a fool.

That being said, ironically, I keep on watching his idiotic reviews just for the cars themselves. Not for the relentless stupidity he spews out of his mouth

I watch Doug's reviews because I'm interested in a lot of the design features he points out that most reviews skip over. How various design issues are treated and solved in different models can be quite interesting, as can the weird things that designers add to their cars.
However, I quite agree about his idiocy regarding older cars. Foot-mounted high-beam switches are a thing of mystery to him, for example. Any car with those reprehensible automatic seatbelts will get a large focus on them. The Jaguar XJS is unreliable because the owner decided to get new floor mats...?
As for "bulbous," hardly....

The shark and the whale....

I have. And an XF. They drive amazing..... Until you have to exit the vehicle and look and the awful Kia- inspired, land whale, disproportionate styling.

adjective
fat, round, or bulging.

Jay usually is practically lyrical when he’s talking cars. I’ll take the bulging usage of the definition as possibly accurate in a good way. Fat or round? Just not applicable.

should one make the descion to buy a car going by what it looks like ,OR by how it drives, sometimes they meet in the middle , and then thats what we get ,something 1/2 and 1/2!!

Too bad to see the fourm go so off-topic that the opinion of a washed-up actor/late-night "star" is even considered remotely relevant.

I'm insured through Hagerty, and thus I get their magazine. How Leno ever earned a spot as one of their feature writers is beyond me.

To paraphrase H.L. Mencken, "the only way a car enthusiast should look at Jay Leno is down".

Thanks,

John

say anything you want to,, BUT i sure would like to own some of his cars!

i still think that the 1957 Corvette Silver body with white inset, is better looking than an XKE roadster!

its very simple and not raw BS! check it on his site, he has many Corvettes but that just stands above all 1950 sports cars!
