Default JLM1462 - ABS High Pressure Hose 1989-1993 XJS

I've been calling and emailing to find anyone who has JLM1462 in stock. My Jaguar dealer said out of stock with no ETA and did a nation-wide search to see if anyone had one - nope. I've been calling and reaching out to vendors but they don't have one either. I'm still waiting to hear back from SNG Barratt but I don't have much hope on that.

I have most of the parts to revert back to non-ABS but I don't want to do that. I think I can make a new hose using Aeroquip PTFE-lined braided stainless steel hose and the appropriate fittings, which is rated for 3,000 psi.

I can't find the operating pressure for the Teves MkIII system. Does anyone know what pressure the system operates at and does a 3,000 psi hose have enough safety margin?

Mine still works but is original and I feel like it's a ticking bomb. I'd rather replace it now before it splits and makes a huge mess.

Thorsen,

Did you contact Jaguar Classic Parts directly? Although it's not necessarily a guarantee, the website seems to indicate a price yet doesn't indicate out of stock. Perhaps worth just giving them a call.

Good luck

I had not but I just sent them an inquiry. Thank you for the suggestion.

This site, https://www.xjsbanger.co.uk/jaguar-x...or-diagnostics
says 140 to 180 bar, or 2600 psi.

I'm definitely bookmarking that site - I will be back there.

Thank you to all for the help.

You're lucky. There are a lot of places stating "in stock" online when they don't have it, and haven't for a long time.

It's definitely going on my "friendly" credit card just in case I need to dispute.

Not necessary. JDHT is a legitimate place of business. I’ve purchased plenty of things from them in the past.

All quality OEM parts. Never disappointed.

It's the heritage parts division of Jaguar, great people to deal with. They have gone above and beyond several times to help me.

Thomas,

That's the website that overlays the parts system that your dealer "apparently" checked for stock. And Jaguar Classic Parts used to have a US parts storage site (not sure if its still there?) So a huge amount of the stock was already in the US. I would go back and ask him to explain exactly what they checked as it seems they got it wrong.

Cheers

Paul

Closing the loop on this. DHL delivered me a new JLM1462 from the UK this morning. It has a date code of 2020 on it so I have a fresh hose to last another 30+ years. Thank you @ptjs1 for the link.

BUT if there are any time travelers from the future visiting this thread - if for some reason JLM1462 becomes unavailable, here is what I would do. Get an 8mm (or 5/16) banjo adapter like this:

As well as a foot or two of -3 PTFE hose. It's rated for 3,000 psi and has a minimum bursting strength of 12,000 psi.

An AN -3 hose end for PTFE,

And then double-check my math on this, but I think you want one of these to connect the hose you made above to the steel line that crosses the firewall.

In 2022 you can get that delivered to your house for about $50. If you ever need to replace the hose in the future, you just unscrew the AN hose ends, replace the ferrules, and put in a new piece of hose for about $10.
