leaks - windshield drain channels
I've experienced two different leaks, one where a small amount of water will come in at the top of the windshield in the upper left corner, and one where water will be dripping on my left foot.
I pulled the chrome off the A pillar (no rivets in my case, just a couple of screws) and can now see the drain channel. It had a certain amount of gunk in it, which was easily cleaned out.
What I'm not sure of is where this water is supposed to go once in reaches the lower left side of the channel. In my case, there is no hole or channel, it just stops. Is that how it's supposed to be?
Thanks,
John

My guess would be worn out seals quite common on the xjs (mine leaks in the same damn spot!) So I would replace the rubber seals but i'm no expert on jags But it seems quite simpe too me that dryed oyt rubber Iis the issue check for rust there as well. The windshield itself could be leaking have it installed if it does not stop i'm going the same route

it is best, IMO, to block up these channels under the trim at the top in the gutter with bitumastic mastic. I did this years ago and never had a problem with water falling on me when I got in and out. Then water cannot get to the seal against the body. Basically there is nowhere for the water to go at the bottom so it pools up under the wing and rots through the top chassis rail where you cannot see it.
Go right round the rubber seal where it is against the windscreen with the bitumen mastic gun. Poke it under the seal, sliding it against the glass as you go round (have a friend go infront of you by an inch or so lifting the seal with a screwdriver if necessary) and pump in the gunk. Clean any excess off the glass afterwards and this will very likely cure the drips.
Worked for me. Greg

I have been here so here is my experience.
Water can get into the footwell in a number of places.
1 The scuttle where the windscreen wipers are this has the air flaps if water pools here it runs in.
2 The front quarter windows
First we'll discuss the the scuttle. Water from where you are pointing makes a tortured path to find its way out. I found the drains on both siders of my car were blocked with seamsealer. see picture. This can be accessed by removing the rear inner guards. You also need to seal the fixings (screws/rivets) that hold the lower chrome trim on.
This is another place I found mine was leaking. Mine was full of sealant and did not allow the water to drain. I removed all of the sealer and just sealed the opening. I have water tested and all seems ok now. BTW water leaking here will damage the door card near the speaker and chrome interior light switch plate.
