Default leaper or growler?

are they interchangeable on the hood. really not a fan of the leaper but if I find the right car with a leaper can it be replaced with the growler badge without hood modifications?

It just depends. My car has a leaper that fits right into the holes for the badge and I can go back and forth according to my moods. Some have unfortunate additional holes drilled and both the leaper and the badge

Technically NO XJ-S/XJS left the factory with a leaper. Any leaper is an aftermarket thought, commnonly a bad one But that is my opinion

so, the car I'm going to see today has the leaper on the hood. I should be able to replace that with the growler badge? no extra holes visible in the hood?

leaper is off, growler is on. it came with no mounting hardware so I had to scrounge a tiny screw and make a large enough washer to cover the hole left in the hood by the leaper. any way, it's on and looks good.
