Left-Hand (Driver) Rear Lights

Hello fellow XJS's,
So I recently did a tune-up on my car (vehicle specifications in sig below), and aside from over-filling the trans fluid (oops, I drained some out), I found a rather annoying electrical gremlin.
Essentially, my left (drivers) license plate and rear light won't turn on when I turn on my lights at night (all other left-side electrical lights work). Checked fuse (under passenger/right dash), is good. I checked the wiring up to the output in the trunk (or whatever you fine British folk call it), there is no electricity running to the left side, but there is electricity running to the right. By output, I mean where the wire comes in next to the battery.
Any ideas where this harness coming into the trunk of the car goes in terms of up the river? I'm thinking it might be a relay somewhere, no idea where to look next.
Oh Lucas electrical, will you ever stop providing us with hours of entertainment?

There is a relay in the engine compartment but I don't think that's it as it would effect all the side lights and tail lights.
It looks like the feeds for these lights comes through the bulb failure sensor which should be located in the left rear of the boot. Perhaps check there first?
Have you downloaded the electrical diagram for your car? If not, it's very useful (and free!!) Go here and pick your MY. http://www.captainjaguarscathouse.co..._Reference.htm
Cheers,
Allan
