Light in Ignition key?

With an EXTREMELY sharp razor knife.
You can split it along the seam and replace the 'button-cell' battery.
I just press the halves back together, reinsert the lighted part and let the rest of the key hold it together.
The other alternative is to buy the lighted part from Jaguar as an assy and hope that it is not NLA. (I'll bet it is No Longer Available from parts dept.)
I have several keys for my 1992 XJ40 and every few years I buy a battery and replace it in one of the keys.
The battery # is 625A

To get the key open, press the rectangle with JAGUAR written in it on the back of the key and pull the two halves apart.
The battery/light is one piece so you can't replace it easily without doing a bit of surgery
The part number for the replacement is BCC9959 but I doubt you will find it easily.
It's fully described in the owners handbook if you have it.
Cheers,
Allan
