Default Living near the beach

Hello again

Do any of you guys live walking distance to the beach? Myself i am about 10 mins walk to the beach (Sunny Coast QLD) and just wondering if there is any special precautions you guys recommend or problems you have had, particularly with corrosion. This car would be garaged when not in use but mainly used to cruise around locally, which is right on the coast.

cheers again

Always seems like the cars that get the most rusted next to the coast are the ones that sit out all the time. I have always assumed it has to do with the moisture in the air coming off the ocean with the salt mixed in with it. I would assume no different in your area.

I have learned over the years to be careful how much you wash the XJS. I figure beyond driving on wet roads all the time the next worst thing for these cars is washing them and then parking them in a garage. The XJS is prone to rust behind the lower windshield mouldings, fenders etc. so you want to be very careful how much you are putting water to these areas. Don't get me wrong, if my car needs to be washed it gets it but I try and wipe it down and dust off as musc as possible to limit how much water is being introduced to these vulnerable areas as possible.
