I wanted to come back and wrap up this thread.

It was indeed a motor mount that was shot. I replaced both mounts with OEM Metalastic mounts.

It was the drivers side mount. I replaced the passengers side first, thinking it would be the culprit. I was disappointed that it came out whole. I thought it was going to be something else, so you should have seen the thrill in my face when I moved on to the drivers side!

I’m sure this was a leftover result from when my car was stolen and damaged.

Did you do the engine mount torque test as described earlier (in Drive with brakes on to see the which side lifted).

Yeah, I mentioned in Post 36 that I was able to get it to scrape in D, but not R. It wasn’t a lot, but I did hear it. Thanks for that bit of advice!

Ah ok, sorry. Must have missed that reply.
ok, that makes sense then that the drivers(left) side mount would have picked up in "Drive"as it is trying to twist opposite to engine crank rotation. Glad you found it.

Vee,

Well done, glad you got it fixed. I'm guessing that rotation was causing the fan to scrape on the top of the shroud? If so, you might want to remove it now and inspect for any even slight stress cracks starting to appear on the blades as a result of the scraping. You dont want one those blades tio let go as a result of being even slightly weakened.

Cheers

Paul

Thanks. The fan blades look fine. They are relatively new, since they were replaced when the car was stolen. I was thinking that same thing.

The car feels new again with the new shocks. I didn’t realize what a mess the Boge shocks were. I tossed them away, but I still have the original shocks from the car. While far from new, they feel quite serviceable still! I have Sachs on the car now. We’ll see how long they last. I bought them from a vendor that apparently warrants them for life!
