Welcome to the forums Larry,

As you've posted a separate Intro, I've moved your question from New Member Area - Intro a MUST to XJS forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

I think your owners manual will have the key type or code you can order from Jaguar, if it's anything like my 89 v12 BMW it'll be pricey but they have all the info.

Not sure what kind of key it is but if it's a tibbie style key, this guy might be able to help...

I hope you knocked the crap out of dummy brother in law. LOL! I have an 2, 89 XJS' , and I looked at both keys, and I believe they are just regular keys. I also have the covers off one of the steering columns, and there is no electronic sensing device on the column, of any sort. So it'a a pretty safe bet they are not Tibbie keys. Which should make it a little easier, as a good lock smith, may be able to cut a key for you. If you take the switch assembly to him, That is if you don't have the owners manual, or can't find the code. Good Luck

1985s are not Tibbe keys. Jaguar Heritage may well have the key type.

Larry,

Jaguar Heritsge hold all the key code records for your car. Contact them and once you've proved ownership, they can provide the details.

Good luck

Paul
