Default Lowering Convertible Top (94 XJS)

The convertible top on my 94 XJS works almost perfectly, BUT when I put the top down, I have to push the glass slightly toward the rear of the car so it will not hit the back of the rear seat. The glass wants to snag the left rear of the seat (looking toward the rear from the driver's seat LHD). Is there an adjustment? Is something loose causing the glass to not clear the rear seat? When putting the top up, it works perfectly (without touching the rear of the seat). Any ideas appreciated!

I have the same problem with my '95. I just push the glass back. There is supposed to be an adjustment somehow but I never went looking for it. There are two nylon straps that come down over the rear two tops bows and tie into the top of the window frame. I think these are pulled tight pulling the rear window up and slightly out of position. I am going to try to adjust when I put my next new top on.

Me too guys....and to make matters worse the glass has cut into the rear seats and split them....not an easy repair.

Roger95, BenzJag let me know if you work out a solution.

Thanks

I have the same issue w/ my '96 XJS and hoping that adjusting/replacing the convertible top short tension cables will resolve the problem.

It's on my to do list (long) this spring, will let you know what I find.

I adjusted the side bolts yesterday (and on both sides) with absolutely no improvement. I adjusted them in different positions with no joy. I did notice one side of the short "straps" was extremely tight whereas the other was extremely loose. Maybe that is my problem????

My 1996 does that too. I hope someone gets a definitive answer to this problem.
