We demand photos of your car!! (I can say that cuz I'm not a forum moderator).
You'll find the part number you're looking for here: Electric Tilt/Slide Sunroof Motor-Coupe - Parts For XJS from (V)139052 to (V)179736 | Jaguar Classic Parts UK <<Love this site for its diagrams.
But you may have to source a used part. Maybe Welsh Enterprises - New Jaguar Parts, Used Jaguar Parts and Accessories - XK120 - XK140 - XK150 - E-Type - MK - XJ6 - XJ8 - XJ - XK8 - XK - XJS - S-Type - X-Type - XF can help--they break Jags and are in Ohio, not far. Or maybe some smart bloke can fix the one you have. Like an alternator rebuilding shop??? That's a big guess.
Or maybe, the one from an XJ6 will work
Good luck. You'll probably get the perfect answer from the next person to reply.

I'm assuming you've called Pauls Jaguar, Coventry West, SNG Barratt, Jagbits, David Manners, etc?
There are quite a few places.
Then there's Grublogger in the UK.
Just because it's not listed, doesn't mean they don't have it.
I'd start calling around, or sending emails.
Don't forget eBay

Have you had a good look at your existing motor?
I ask only because......
It's not unusual to find after-market sunroof/moonroof installations in older XJSs. Jag dealers often had them locally installed before the car was sold. Don't buy a genuine/OEM style motor unless you're sure it's the same as what you have.
Cheers

The actual Jaguar parts catalogs show all the pieces for a "factory" XJS sunroof. So I guess the answer is "yes". I've never seen one, personally.
Actually I *think* that Jaguar itself didn't install the "factory" sunroofs on the assembly line but did the installations (or had them done) off-site. I might be wrong.
I've also heard that some were "port installed" by Jaguar USA (and perhaps other export markets/distributors as well). That is, installed before the cars were distributed to the dealers....but these were factory sanctioned installations....perhaps done by Jaguar USA personell?
Someone will come along with better info. If not, I think the issue has been pretty well settled on the JCNA discussion forums. I just can't remember the details and conclusions.
Cheers

i have an 89 coupe with a genuine Jaguar factory fitted glass motorised sunroof , this is listed on the production line document i have from Jaguar , along with all the other optional extras , it was a £2000 upgrade
as mentioned, they are in the parts manual , and were special order when buying the car , i have also had contact with a Jaguar manager that had to ' Type approve ' the sunroof for the XJS in the UK.
a company called Webasto made the sunroof for Jaguar, and its unique , no other manufacturer used this model of sunroof , i confirmed this by contacting Webasto in Holland last year
then during production Jaguar removed the car from the line , and still in factory had a company called Tudor-Webasto ( google it ) install the sunroof at the side of the production line, once complete , it was put back into the line for completion ,
Tudor -Webasto cut the roof aperture, installed the sunroof cassette , and also installed a custom roof lining that has no biscuit card , and there is a special customised rear retaining trim around the rear window to hold up the roof lining , they also installed all the control wiring to a switch in between the window switches via a relay in the passenger fuse box ,
here is a pic from underneath , i refurbished this myself last year ,
this was before i cut out the sunroof hole
so , as for the motor , it may well be fubar, but it will be better to have it refurbished than try and get a replacement , as you won't , the XJ6 or XJ40 motors will not fit , it could be the switch , or power supply fuse where i mentioned , there is also a relay by the motor for direction change for the tilt and run ,
BB
you can just see the smoked glass sunroof ( moonroof ) in this picture of my restored car
