More on door lock actuator.
To start, see my posting: "Simple Door Lock Actuator Removal and Repair." That procedure worked well.
Now my actuator motor failed.... Replacement motors are on eBay for under five dollars and come without a pressed on gear. There is one with a nine tooth gear on the motor, but the gear diameter is small, but can work if a 1/32 cardboard shim is placed under the motor. I heated the gear on my defective motor to remove it and the heat destroyed the gear. Lessoned learned! I need the tiny gear for repair and cannot find a replacement anywhere . It has nine teeth and about 5/16 wide. If anyone has a defective actuator for a facelift model (mine is a '93) or a dead motor with the gear, I would like to buy it and pay postage (afterburner1sbcglobal.net)
As a heads up, if you are repairing the actuator as you open it be careful not to let the two slides fall out before you note their position.
