Default My 88 XJS getting new look

About 6 months ago I started itching for a black XJS coupe. I looked for about a month and found several but the price was too high, or by the time I could find one, it was either in ruff shape or sold before I could get to it. One night on a trip i happened to come across an 88 in EXCELLENT condidion, BUT!!!!!!! Signal Red. UGH, not bad but not my dream color.
Well, the price was sooooo good, I decided I could live with a signal red.

I've had it for about 4 months and found one little bit of rust under the left rear fender, (I mean SMALL spot) and there were two quarter size rust spots at the right base of the rear window, as well as a very smal spot in the trunk gutter at the bottom. I took it in to get a price to repair the rust properly and with cutting it out it was about 900.00
After talking with my painter, he said if I want to go black, hw could do it for 3000.00 if I could leave it for a month. DONE!
He's doing everything. under bonnet, boot, door jams, removing every piece of chrome, windows. A full color change. The only area that will be left is the engine bay.
I also have a set of lattice wheels being totally repainted as well in hyper silver. Replacing the starfish wheels.
I've already installed new dash woods (nothing really wrong with originals but faded) and a new ski slope with the cup holders.
Just received the euro headlights as well but they are in ruff shape. I'm trying to separate the front lense from the reflector to clean. ANy tips??

I'll post pics to show progress!!!

Got the wheels back and went with Hyper silver. We did one with the black lattice but after I saw it, it looked too rice burner.
The Hyoer silver is amazing. starts with a black base and then layers of silver flake in clearcoat. I went with about 4 layers of silver so they have a deep silver finish, the one last perfect clearcoat. AMAZING!!
Right now, the car's being primed after cutting out all rust and removing the 80's chrome rub strip and huge front marker lights. I',m replacing with the lucus small amber markers.
I also got the new Halo/angel eye headlights to replace the old sealed beam bulbs. Not sure how I'll like them, but easy enough to replace. I've pluged in and so far they are really cool with the LED halo on outer edge.

where did you find the small amber side markers?

and was any body work necessary while you were doing the repaint, or could this be just a simple swap over?

the original side markers are huge.

Sorry.
I've tried a million times to download these damn pics! There's something blocking me from downloading from photobucket. I did get them to download to an album if you go to my albums in my profile. Just click on my user name and choose "view profile" then click on my XJS album.
Car's for sale now anyway! Picked up a 2002 black on black XK8.
