Default Need help

I have a 1995 xjs convertible 6cyl.
Which occationally getting stuck in parking , specially when is on hill. I manage to get it outta parking by jiggling with the gear.

How can i fix this before it leaves me stranded.

Easy :-)

Set the handbrake first, then shift to "P", so the the weight of the car is held by the brakes, not the parking pawl of the transmission.

If your handbrake won't hold the weight of the car it needs adjusting or repairing. Lack of use is what renders most handbrakes inoperative.

Thanks for the response . I been doing that but i know that one day i will forget to put the emergency break and will get stuck.
There has to be a way to fix this ...

I dunno. Perhaps your shift cable is faulty in some way? Out of adjustment?

Is the brake-shift interlock working properly?

Hard-to-shift-out-of-Park when parked on a hill, in and of itself, isn't unusal.
