Need Help With Light Problem
1995 XJS Convertible (6 cycl) 43,000 miles - I could use some technical help. The battery went dead from non use. I removed the battery and locked the trunk with the key. After charging the battery, I couldn't get the trunk open with the key. My son hooked up a 12 volt jump from the Jag's cigar lighter to his Toyota Pickup with the intent of getting enough power to activate the power door opener. It didn't work.
When i finally got the trunk open and hooked up the charged battery, the following doesn't work: No Dash Lights, No Parking Lights, No Side Marker Lights, No Headlight Washer. Everything else works, the radio, headlights brake lights, reverse lights, wipers, seats, convertible top, air, door locks, horn, etc. all work.
Tested all fuses and all are OK.
Tested all bulbs and all are OK.
There is no power to the #7, 8, 9 or 10 fuse in the front drivers side fuse box. These are for left marker light, right side marker light, left dip beam headlamp and right dip beam headlamp. (Not sure what the dip beam headlamp is)
Can't find any fuse location in the book for the dash lights.
Owners manual says that there should be a fuse box in the trunk on the drivers side - there is none there.
Any help will be appreciated.
Frank

RE: Need Help With Light Problem
kamsdad,
Thanks for the response.
I downloaded the wiring diagram for the Jag and we were able to figure out the problem. Seems a relay was the culprit. It's located in the front drivers side fuse box, however, the car is not exactly as shown on the wiring schematic for the 1995 XJS. Two of the relays shown on the schermatic for this fuse block are reversed on the car.
Also, the 1995 XJS doesn't have a fuse box on the drivers side rear as the schematic shows - it just isn't there. The factory CD player is in the location that the fuse box is supposed to be.
I bought this car in 1996 and it has never been in an accident, so I wonder if when Ford bought Jag they altered some things. I have the Ford electronics in the car, not Lucas electronics. I guess that I have an "English Ford" (you have to be my age to understand that remark)

Try turing the key 90deg 1/4 of a turn this unlocks the the boot and engages the handle. Well is does on the pre-facelift.
Welcome to Jag electrics I have found a number of descrepancies between the diagram and what is actually there. Electric windows comes to mind vividly.
cheers
