Need help looking for an Engine!
Hello everyone,
My Dad's 1987 XJS was parked for sometime in need of a rebuild. It's a 5.3 V12 and the dealership quoted my Dad for $25,000 for a new engine!
The only problem is the car is located in Bahrain, so the car has Middle-East specs. I was searching for used engines on Ebay for a while and noticed the VIN #'s varied slightly. If anyone has any knowledge in this, it would be very appreciated. The first Digits in the Vin : SAJ JNAEW 4 BC.
I have decoded the VIN# here The Jaguar XJ-S.
If I purchased an engine from the US, would it be an exact fit?
Thanks

The USA variants had lower compression (11.5 vs. 12.5) and different emissions equipment but would physically drop right into place with no problem.
The emission equipment from the original engine could be swapped onto a USA replacement engine...but you'd still have a slight power loss from the lower compression.
Cheers
