From the looks of that door jamb plate, the car has been repainted, because Im seeing overspray at the bottom right of the plate and over the rubber seals. The color may have been incorrectly set up for the respray. Lots of these cars suffered from bad clear coat peeling, but it doesnt explain the need to paint inside the jamb.
If the car is local. Go look at it, but knowing the jamb was painted, leads me to believe a drivers side impact at some point in its life. Go look at it though. Either the color was changed for fun or an accident prompted the respray. Jambs arent easy to get away with so look closely at what seems to be shitty repaint or a crack on the jamb, right side of the plate.

It's about 1200 miles away, so probably not feasible.
The Carfax is clean but that doesn't always tell the whole story.
Forget Carfax on a car that old. Basically worthless as records accessible online to them for much of the car's early life simply don't exist. Have the car inspected by a knowledgeable mechanic or someone in a local Jaguar club that knows XJS'. If their report is clean, then take a trip to see it in-person, before putting down money. There will ALWAYS be things the inspection doesn't catch, or the seller doesn't know, or tell you. Be prepared to walk away. I've traveled, but walked away.
