New Member and New Owner 1989 XJ-S
Greetings
My wife purchased a 1989 Jaguar XJ-S V-12 in the Fall of 2009. I have joined this forum for her. We are both new to the Jaguar world as this is her first one.
Obviously, there are some very special aspects of this vehicle. The beauty, ride and handling are a few attributes to mention.
On the other hand, there are some peculiar mechanical issues that arise. I can see that we have a steep learning curve ahead.
Our reason for joining this forum is to become more well informed and to share her joy.
I will post photos when I learn how to.

Welcome James
I hope you and the Mrs continue to enjoy your XJS. On the right day, when all the planets are aligned, there is nothing finer than a V12 XJS.
Post your issues back here and the team will try to help as much as we can.
A lot of the Jaguar experience is about managing your expectations. You have bought a car that is 20+ years old, and with any old car its not going to be trouble free. As with any make and model of car there are "special" areas to address. One very good resource for you is "Experience in a Book" by Kirby Palm. Google it and download. As well as being a useful reference manual when something does go wrong, it is also good to just read from cover to cover anyway. A lot of issues with XJSes can be prevented if the owner is proactive. For your car you must read up on the fuel injection hoses which can split (and cause a terminal engine fire) and also you may have Marelli ignition, which has its own peculiarities.
Anyway, have fun, and let us know if you need any help
