New Seat Skins

New Seat Skins
Does anyone have a recommendation for new seat skins for my 92 XJS? Nothing better than sitting on new leather, especially if the old ones are cracked ...
I contacted World Upholstery & Trim but have not gotten any reply. The other one that I found is this company:
1992 - GAHH Online Store
about $1500 for new front seats (don't have back seats).
Any ideas? I will run it by my upholstery guy and see what he charges.

Hi Mark
I got a set of front seat leathers for my 92 from this guy on ebay :
Jaguar XJS Coupe Convertible Leather Seat Covers 75-96 | eBay
It was an absolute pain to put them on. I did it myself, kind of as a learning experience, kind of because I'm from Scotland, so tight with money. But, now that they are done I have to say they are amazing. The quality of the covers is really good. I have no idea how this guy can make these covers so well, but he does. He must have the original pattern lay outs.
They basically look like brand new seats. I could imagine if you gave these to a decent upholsterer they would be able to do it a lot more efficiently than me.

interesting, I got the same reply from all three of the usual suspects: $1400 for two new front seat skins.
Then I found the seller on ebay you mentioned (diamondmall). He sells them for under $700. I am close to the seller but he said that he does not stock them and they are made for order. I would really like to see them and how they fit. Nothing worse than new leather skins for your seats if they don't fit right.
Has anyone bought from this seller? He sells skins for other jaguars as well and tops for the XJS for much less too.

World Upholstery and GAHH are both pretty much the best of the best and GAHH supplies leather to the Mercedes Benz classic center.
I've had friends who have used diamondmall on Mercedes for tops, seat covers and carpet and for the most part (with the exception of one guy) they have been quite happy.
My advice to you is to pay by credit card. That way, if you have issues, you have recourse.
