Default "new" shock bushings already destroyed

I replaced my front shocks with Gaz shocks a few months ago. Recently I noticed a fair amount of clunk coming from the front end and both of my new shock bushings are completely destroyed.
I used the provided washer and bushing that came with the Gaz shocks. I forget the torque value (the factory spec seemed low), so I torqued them down to be just squished enough to be flush with the washers. Any thoughts on why these may have failed prematurely? Should i replace with hard rubber ones that came with the Gaz, or the yellow rubber jag ones?

Hi Zlobby

Why not make your own Shock Absorber Bushes?

All you need is a Hole Saw and a Drill

They Cost almost nothing to make and can also be made out of almost any Material, so with some experimentation you can tune the Handling of your XJS so it will corner on rails if you want it that tight

I've cut these out of various things from Hard Rubber to Nylon Chopping Boards and they only takes a few minutes to make and a few more minutes to fit

All except for one Occasion, when the Previous Owner or his Garage, decided to use some sort of Locking Fluid on the Shock Absorber Top Nut Arrgh!

Though otherwise its an easy job to do

Hi- your experience sounds quite unusual. I assume you used two bushes per upper shock mount, plus two large washers… so the sandwich went shock, washer, bushing, inner fender, bushing, washer, nut? I also assume these were adjustable Gaz shocks, what did you have them set to? Assuming you installed correctly, and had them set to something other than 0 or 50, you should take your complaint directly to Gaz.

The yellow Jaguar bushing are very short lived. They are just foam. Wonderful for a couple years but then, crap.

I just installed Bilsteins, they came with bushings. I wasnt sure of torque spec, Bilstein called for a pretty low number. I tightened so they were hand tight(felt like they were bottomed out on the thread)

Yes two bushes & washers, installed as you described. I only had them set 3 clicks in. I guess i'll reach out to Gaz and see what they say. Not difficult to replace, but frustrating I have to do this after a couple months.
