New Transmission for an XJS 5.3 liter V12
I ended up getting a brand new transmission for a Jaguar that fits in vin models (last 9 digits)#139052 through 179736
Part EBC3654N
5.3 liter V12I looked on eBay motors but do not find anything similar that was brand new. Can anyone help me with what this might be worth?
I apologize if I posted this in a wrong section
This is the description of the transmission
Here is the brand new beauty
In the shipping containers still

I called around to a few of the local British car repair shops years ago and asked if they wanted to buy it?
Was asking $500 but no takers.
I built a THM 3L80 for a Chevy small block and thought about swapping the 'guts' from the NEW Jaguar gearbox to the old Chevy case.
Since the rebuild kit was fairly inexpensive I just opted to leave the EBC3654N alone and unmolested in it's wood crate.

My assumption, perhaps incorrect, is that a transmission that has been sitting in crate for 15-20 years is gonna need some rehab work in the form of replacing all seals, internal and external. This takes away some of the gloss of being "brand new".
Still, tho....it's worth pondering. A trans overhaul is $2000 these days.

The N suffix is NEW. The dealer I worked at ordered the gearbox to install in a customer car still in new car warranty in the late 1980s.
Jaguar called after the part was delivered to ask why they ordered a NEW gearbox.
It was determined that the car was over 3 months and 3,000 miles so a REMAN EXCHANGE needed to be installed!!!
Jaguar insisted that if the NEW gearbox was installed, they would deny the warranty claim. (only cars with less than 3,000 miles or less than 3 months old qualified for NEW parts of that type)
The parts dept ordered another gearbox (EBC3654E) and installed it in the customer car.
The parts dept later put in a return claim so Jaguar would authorize return of the NEW gearbox. I have no idea why it sat in the parts room for over 10 years.
One day I was called to the parts dept and they asked if I wanted a gearbox. They told me "bring your pickup truck to work and get it out of here."
I did NOT want it tossed into the dumpster so I 'rescued' it.
That was almost 20 years ago so it has been in the crate for more than 30 years.
I was tempted to cut the steel bands and look inside but I just pushed into my shop corner and left it there.
It is listed as fitting the Series III XJ12 sedans as well as the XJS V12 5.3 liter.
