Default new tyres older stock

how old are tyres when they are retailed, I went to an auto jumble and there were 2 x 225-60-16 good year eagle tyres there for £50 each, brand new and still wrapped, but the date on the tyres was 2005. would anyone chance them on the front of an xjs?

Personally, every tire older than 8 years gets dumped.

I would never biy some 'new' tires from 2005... They are 12 already! They might be hard and brittle after 12 years. One drive cannbe enough to blow one...

I'm with Daim, I definitely wouldn't fit them. I've had Pirelli P6000s that block-hardened after 4 years and needed replacing.

2005?

Those are worse than if they were installed on a set of wheels honestly because they oxidized inside and out. Those are trash as far as I'm concerned.
