New XJS owner with an introduction and a question
Hi Folks. I'm new to the forum and have introduced myself in the newbie section: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...member-120337/
I've recently acquired a 1988 XJS 5.3 V12 with 43K mi. and I'm loving every experience with it, include this forum. I've include a picture of my XJS and one of the knockoffs on the Dayton wheels. The problem is, the driver's side has the only two on the car. The other side sports two gaping holes where these beautiful spinners should be.
My query: How difficult are these particular spinners to find and how much should I expect to pay for two very good to excellent examples? I've searched the web to no avail.
Thank you. Walt.
P.S. I know the wheels are tarnished, this will be remedied soon (but they look worse in the picture).

Looks like Dayton still offers them.....
Wire Wheel Accessories
.....you'd need a Jaguar emblem, though. Or maybe Dayton can supply emblems?
Cheers

Thanks, Doug. I wasn't even thinking in that direction. I'm usually pretty good at common sense, but not this time. It was the stickers that threw me; I wanted the original look (but considered all chrome if I couldn't find the ones I wanted), so I had only thought about looking for those specifically...didn't even think about recreating them. Thanks again. Walt

Well...I've been doing a little homework and I've discovered that these wheels are special (not necessarily in a good way). They were produced by Dayton for Jaguars, but were not factory options...they were offered by dealers sans any Jaguar sanction. As you can see, they're not true knockoff wheels; rather, they're specially built bolt-on wheels that don't require the adapter that a true Dayton knockoff does. That being said, the three-eared spinners are not threaded like true knockoffs. ...lot's of interesting opinions out there regarding wire wheels...including these and others.
