Default Newbie Questions from Newbie Owner

Hello. I'm the happy new owner of an exceptionally clean '92 XJS V12 Convertible. I bought the car out of Florida and just finished driving it home to Maryland. The drive revealed two (hopefully) minor issues. The first is that the cruise control doesn't work. Are there some basic/common issues I should check? The second issue is that it periodically stalls at idle. Most of the time it idles perfectly. But then, once in a while, it just stalls. There is also a faint smell of gas. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Looks like a well maintained engine. I'd say the cruise failed and previous owner removed the whole assembly.

Not that it makes any difference re. your cruise control but those intakes look like they are from the later 6.0 engine.
My 94 had the same intakes and the cruise apparatus like in the previous post.
It might have been removed by the PO.

It's a standard 5.3 early facelift engine and inlet manifolds, but it's definitely had the Cruise removed.
