Oil Sender vs. Sensor vs. Switch confusion
Hey now!
I've got an oil leak on my 95 4.0L that I finally chased back to the oil (sender?, sensor?, switch?) on the left side of the oil filter as you look at it. After reading the intergoogle for two days straight, I'm still confused as to which part that is. There is the bulbous gold sensor on the right of the oil filter. That's dry and not the part I want. Then there's the one on the left, which appears to be a devo-hat shaped white plastic job. That's excreting oil about a drip every 5 seconds. Can anybody pretty please tell me a) what is that part? and b) how the heck do you get it out???. When I search for oil switch, google wants to give me that bulbous, gold colored thing, which is not what I want. I've been going at the leaky part with my set of crowsfeet for the better part of two hours with no luck. Anyway, pics attached here (with expertly rendered graphics) and any help would be extremely appreciated. I'll even buy your beers if you ever get to VA. Thanks!

Vee,
Before I purchased a crows foot set I modified the length of a wrench. Bit of a bitch but it worked and no leaks. I used teflon tape!!
I believe the idea was to always show some pressure on the gauge if in fact The engine had pressure. I know that I always had great oil pressure but with the new unit it is maxed out and only moves a little lower after the engine has been run for a while.
By the way were you able to test out the blow off valve for the cruise control?
Thanks

No worries! Thanks for the bit about the teflon tape. It looks like the one I pulled out has tapered threads. Not sure if the part I ordered will have those as well. Black pipe has tapered threads, and I always use thread seal on that, so I'll go ahead and use thread seal here as well. Don't want to ever do this again....

Just in case somebody else stumbles upon this post and is as easily confused as I am, below are the parts I bought. Both are working fantastically. No leaks, and my oil pressure doesn't dip down to zero while waiting at a light :-). Thanks for the help.
Oil switch (left side of the filter) - https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...178940&jsn=829. (This one is awesome because you can reinstall with a regular 24mm socket. No need for a crowsfoot. Put a little PFTE tape on it, per Vee and Softball60.
Oil sensor (right side of the filter) - https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...178940&jsn=833. (doesn't look anything like the original, but works like a champ)
Thanks again!
