Default Oil on top of engine

While I am waiting for my distributor parts I have been cleaning up the top of the engine. Is the only place oil could be coming from that would be up on top of the engine from the valve covers?

there is also a large plate that makes up the valley floor. dont ask me because I have never removed it BUT I think that it is gasket-ed and can leak. there are a bunch of either 10 or 13 mm bolts that surround the plate that I have snugged up but never removed. thats all I got. sorry

yeah, so, all of these sections are gasket-ed sections and on the vee side it seems the only place for the oil to go is into the V...
Or, down the other side. Or, both...

D plugs (rear of cam covers) can / probly leak but at least in my experience it was confined to the back area as an oily dusty film not alot in the V. Those are good to do with aluminum permenant plugs.
