How does one check to see if the engine is switching from Open to Closed Loop operation?
I have Dash Command and OBD Fusion with an ELM327 but I don't see anything there to tell me.
is it important? its not easy to change !
someplace i have some information about open/closed loop!
i run my standalone open all the time, runs fine!

I would think so. Why would every manufacturer implement it if it weren't important?
On cold start it's in open loop and is looking mainly at the input from the MAF and coolant temp sensors.
After warmup it switches to look mainly at the output O2 sensors.
Also, you say you run open all the time. How do you know it's in open?
That's my question. How to tell if it's in open or closed loop.
i use a standalone ECU , it has many available adjutments, it has a digital read out for open or closed , the closed has an a 256 point read when it goes open or closed!
i tried it with closed and it runs so lean that engine stumbles and just aint happy, open/closed is supposed to save the planet , by going lean as possible, if it gives me any better MPG i cant tell
so i run open and all the time, fuel mileage with a V12 is not that important to me!
it is possible to make much tighter AF ratios , but car would have to go onto a chassis dyno= money!

Does the eco adjust the fuel trims when it sees you are lean? On my STR, it dlowly adjusts the LTFTs when it sees a lean or rich condition and over time they settle out.
and howd ypu get a stand alonne ECU that works on these cars?
Under OBD Fusion, I believe it’s under the Fuel System Status.
1 is open loop. (Not taking any directions from sensors)
2 is closed loop. (Sensors are adjusting the engines fueling)
I could be wrong. I use another program, Yhasi Movi Pro, and they do have an output that indicates whether the car is in open or closed loop. I suspect that this fuel system status is the same thing though.
aarcuda, pix of my standalone ECU, computer is SDS simple digital systems, adjustment control box is on USB cord!
its a little old tech 2000yr, but works fine for my needs , there are more modern types but next year an update comes along etc!
ron SDS programmer SDS computer with top open!
it uses readily available sensors mostly low cost GM ( like the MAP cost new $28. bucks), i happen to use Honda fuel injectors, low cost relative to Jaguar types!
