Here in Oz though the prices are wow+. always get a green tinge when reading about the low prices our USA friends pick up these vehicles for.

XK-E's are selling XJ-S'. Even though the E price has cooled a bit, it's still up in the clouds and those that want a traditional Jaguar "sports touring" car, that has WAY more personality than the XK8, are going to flock.
I've changed my tune a bit a one these, as I think we're going to start seeing consistent $20K coupes and $30K Convertibles state-side within the next five years. The cars in question will need to be perfect, no story cars, but I think they are coming.
I think lump's will suffer fairly badly, but only until original powered cars get too high in value, and then they too will command a consistent dollar figure.

So nice to hear this. Even when compared to the other four cars, the XJS looks so attractive that's impossible for the average citizen to miss and not to express admiration. The car truly looks "classic" and I'm not surprised that it may now be headed to a more prestigious place in the vintage cars group.
Cheers,
Cheers,

I was fortunate enough to be invited to a collectors autohaus the other month and in between drooling over his collection of exotic cars. I took the time to look at his collection of 1980's ferrari 308, mondial and 328 and 928 porsche I came away admiring them greatly but at the same having increased respect for the XJS. Our jaguar has in my opinion held its asthetic appeal as well as the ferrai's and definately better then the 928. The ferraris and the Jag shared the same 'feel' in the interior including generally how the plastics and leather and have aged on cars that have been cared for in similars ways. The one shocker was the 928 interior that was horrendous black plastic that aged terribly in a well cared for car. I'm sure black plastic was 'cool' in the 80's but god aweful in 2015!

The XJS is getting better looking with age. Just seems like in the last 5 years of my owning this great car, I have noticed each year how much people want to check out the car and are drawn to it.
Very exciting to see your car becoming a classic. Not sure if it is just me but when I first got the XJS I always felt in some strange way that I had to settle for the XJS because the E-type was already priced out of reach but now I do not think that but rather just see the XJS as the only Jag for me.
I truly see the XJS for it's own merits and I do not feel at all that I had to settle. Even though I drive a '95 XJS it has a mixture of older styling combined with more modern features like air bags. No comparison when I park next to a '95 Mercedes or BMW as they just do not have that older style mixed in with touches of modern styling-to me the '95 Merc and BMW still look too modern.

Increased value? A mixed blessing.
One of the great things about used Jags that anyone can afford one. It's hard finding more car for less money. It would be a shame for it to become less affordable.
The upside, though, is that with a higher value there will eventually be interest in pouring a bit of money into them....improving the quality of the cars.
Cheers

I think people will start to realize the bad reputation was not because of bad engineering. These cars (xjs) are amazing vehicles. I have two of them and I do work on them a lot but one has 70k and its a v12 the other 125k and its a 4.0. BOTH of them are pretty much entirely stock as far as sensors and alternators, starters, fuel pumps, valves go. They are no idfferent than any other car. You can get a car that cost $80 for $2k and use it as a daily driver. We are lucky, those of us here who are not rich and own jags. Praise to Lucas and Marelli.

As long as all his jags are xjs he's in good shape. It could be better than most stocks, if the price raises 25-30% in 10 years.

The sure fire way for old Patrick Stewart to defeat the Borg is to send a boat load of XJS up for them to diagnose. They would plug into just a few and it would blow up the collective. They would need to re-assimilate him to get the V12's running smoothly. Hey Borg - you time has come - resistance to the Classic XJS Collection is futile.

Most of the posts I have seen from you on this site are negative towards Jaguar. Why bother coming onto an enthusiast site and continually bagging the product that we here all love.
I'm a car enthusiast and appreciate many different types of vehicles for what they are. I have had 3 Brock Commodores in the 1980's a couple of Jaguars a Mercedes AMG and I have loved ALL of them, and guess WHAT none of them were perfect. In fact the least reliable I have owned (apart from a 1990 Celica GT4) was my 1983 HDT Commodore, it was towed to the dealer a number of times.
My XJS has been ALL over the country, and NEVER let me down. And it would toast any late 1980's HDT Commodore.
If you have nothing nice to say best say nothing at all.

In my rant forgot this..
Early good (pre-HE) XJS's are already climbing in value in the UK. They only made them for a couple of years (along with the facelift) and I think a lot of pre-HE's were junked. The HE was in production for about 10 years so may take a little longer for values to rise. So 100me you may have time.
