factory color is NDP glacier white.
spent about 7 1/2 hours on it today and got a lot further than i expected i might have to make my final decision on color before the end of the week. its been a while sense iv done a car that was this straight to start with. not that i paint a lot of cars maybe one a year or so.
i think im starting to lean more towards the factory color due to the engine bay.

i got further than this today but my phone went dead so didn't grab any pictures but both rear 1/4's and trunk lid are done, the few little dings are fixed sprayed with high build primer and blocked out. the drivers door has been taken down the ding in the door is fixed and sprayed in high build primer and left it to dry over night ill block the primer on the drivers door out tomorrow. and move on from there

there is the black witch was a single stage paint then a layer of gray primer and then white followed by a factory primer, cant really tell if there is a clear between the white and the gray primer, there is no adhesion problems with the black paint the biggest issue with the black is it was very poorly applied. there is evidance that there was quite a bit of crazing in the factory paint. im taking it as far as i can while trying not to expose any bare metal to try to keep from getting the total paint thickness from getting too deep. but for a first re-paint typically a well scuffed factory paint is the best primer you can use assuming no adhesion issues with the factory paint.
im using 120 grit on a DA as well as some 180 on a block to rip the paint down, then applying a high biuld primer and blocking it out with 320 witch will fill any minor minor imperfections and leaves smooth surface with a good surface for top coat adhesion. ill re-spray it with a base clear when its all done.

i thought the barbie jag was funny as well...lol
i got the catkin pearl, kind of a bit of a gamble as i have only seen pictures of the one car with that color. im hoping to get some color on the car today, really i was hoping to get the jams sprayed last night but it would have been 2am by the time i would have had them sprayed yesterday. i am anxious to see the actual color in person.

Rose Bronze Metallic
There is no colour like it because it is so ugly. I bought my XJS purely on colour - the lovely, subtle Jade Green Metallic. Gun metal grey is nice too - and some of the insignia colours - I like Peppermint - although my wife says it looks girlie. Black is nice if the car doesn't have add on chrome wheel covers or other ostentation. Unfortunately the champagnie colour was seemingly the most popular at the end of the XJS run - and it is very boring.
I also had a Brooklands green XJS and I found the green had too much yellow in it - I would have preferred a darker green. Its quite amazing how many colours they offered on a relatively low production car.
