Default Panic Stations! I've just found a Hole in the Engine!

Hi Guys

I'm not sure if this a problem or not but on the Top of the Engine just underneath the Cruise is a Threaded Hole, which I haven't noticed before and have been driving around with this hole like you can see in the Photo for the last couple of years

Is it supposed to be like it is, or should it have a Bolt in?

Only just noticed it today and so I'm feeling a bit Paranoid

Panic not, Blossom that art Orange. Just Jaguar not bothering to change moulds or whatever.
I had the same question a while back.
It seems to be something left over from the E-Type days.

I filled mine with nice dome shaped hex head bolts from Home Despot. Lots of misc bolt holes can be cleaned up visually like that but certainly not necessary.

The V12 is literally full of holes all over which aren't used in certain applications. If there is no oil or coolant around it, it is fine...

Glad that got sorted. I am a bit surprised you never noticed it, as you've gone over the engine pretty bloody thoroughly I would say in your various restorations. But then every time I look in my engine bay I swear I find a new part....
