Default Pesky electrical plugs

Does anyone have any tips for separating the plugs on the wiring loom. Everyone I've come to pull apart has been a right pain to seperate no matter how bid or small? Thanks

Are you talking about the rectangular rubber blocks, usually white, with 6-8-10 contact pins? If so, yes, they can be a real stinker to separate.

I put a pair of pliers in each hand to grip both halves of the connector and then do some gentle twisting. Don't go hog wild with the oooomph. The leverage provided by the pliers does most the work

Cheers

i don't know the model or age of your xjs.

on my 93 V12 coupe there are a large number of different types of connectors, some merely pull apart, others have latching tabs that lock the connector together and must be pressed in to unlock and allow connector unplugging.
