Picked up this XJS for my father on Wednesday.
1991 XJS Convertible, Classic Collection, oyster metallic paint with doe skin interior and a chocolate brown top. 24K miles.
He and I have each been searching for an XJS for several months now. I've done most of the searching and driving of them as there are a lot more near me for sale (he is in AL).
I found this one locally and it's pristine. I didn't really like the color looking at it online, but after seeing it in person I'd say it's in the top 3 colors I've come across while looking for an XJS, along with the burgundy (flamenco) and the Tungsten Metallic (silver/blue).
I'll probably 'share' it for a while and continue looking for my own. My dad is English, a mechanical engineer, and still works full time at 70 yrs old. He's owned Morgans, MGs, Triumphs, but never a Jaguar. Can't wait to see him behind the wheel.
Cheers.

Very, very nice! You didn't ask for maintenance advice, but I'll throw this out anyway as it was the death of my first XJS:
Check the condition of all rubber bits under the hood! Pay particular attention to the fuel injector hoses and the distributor. Even though the car is low mileage, the rubber bits still age, and the failure mode can be catastrophic.
Beautiful color combination. Best of luck in the search for your own!

Thanks for the responses and advice. He's coming to pick it up this weekend.
In checking the oil level it's about 1/8" over M or Max. In searching on here I've seen comments both ways on whether this is a big issue. I've only had time to drive it a couple of times since I brought it home and didn't see any problems. I was surprised to see how low the oil pressure is at idle when hot, but apparently that's normal. Any thoughts on the oil level?

I wouldn't worry about being 1/8" over on the dipstick. I reckon that represents about 1 pint of oil....in a system with an 11 quart capacity :-)
And to reaffrim, yes, low oil pressure at idle in normal with the V12s. I remember my oil gauge needle just flirting with the "zero"....maybe 5 psi. :-)
Cheers

I was also alarmed at the low oil pressure at idle initially but after some research found the oil flow is still quite high at idle. Like a hose if you put your thumb over the end of the hose the pressure goes up but the flow reduces.

I'm having a blast driving this car right now. It is so smooth at speed and can just eat up the miles in style.
Thanks for the offer on the '92. I'm going to try and find one locally for now. There are quite a few that come available around here. Not sure if I want the V12 or the 4.0 6 cylinder.
Cosmetically, I like certain aspects of the of the '92 and later; seems like the hood scoop is deeper/more agressive. But the tail end of '91 and earlier is pure sex on wheels. Damn why did they change that.
