Man, that looks great! You are really getting this done fast. I'm doing the same rear-rebuild on my 84 XJS. I started way before you did but mine is still in pieces...lol!
Good job man, keep it up!!

Thanks! We have the project on the fast track, all we're waiting for now is the transmission adapter that I was supposed to have in my hands over a week ago.

Mary is going to sell her Chevy Tahoe when it's done, so I want to get the Jag on the road asap.

I am STILL waiting on the $1100 transmission adapter that was supposed to take a week to ship, now it's going on a month and the car is still sitting here. They said it would ship today finally, but we'll see about that. I was told 5 different times it would be ready before.

Default Progress!

Finally we got the transmission adapter! We started mocking it up in the engine bay with an old 1JZ block and a rear sump Supra/Soarer oil pan. Everything is going to fit nicely! There's tons of room in the engine bay, it's going to be great for a single turbo setup!

Flexplate for the torque converter. (doesn't look like it will flex much!!!

A match made in heaven? We'll soon find out!

In this pic the transmission is completely bolted up to the factory bracket, and the pan clears the steering rack like the JZ engine was made to be there!!!

It's getting there.....

Oh and I just thought of a good name for our car.

It's a Jaguar XJZ!

Man, like I said before, great job!
It's incredible to see how small the JZ looks in the engine bay. It reminds me of the JZ they put in the Mustang in Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift. Personally, I love the swap you're doing not only for the power to weight ratio you'll be getting but also the look of the JZ in that engine bay. To be honest, the V12 looks really cluttered in the XJS. Everytime I see the progress on your thread, I want to do a swap on my 84 XJS.
Anyway, yours is going to be light, powerful and fast!
By the way, I love the new name as well.

I agree, I think the 2jz is going to look cool in there! I actually sold the engine I was originally going to use, and I just got an even cleaner JDM 2jz-gte that looks like it doesn't have any miles on it! We put our pulley kit on it, and the valve covers look like new, all the aluminum is really clean, it's going to be really nice to see it in the engine bay and running. We're getting close to putting it in permanently now, all that's left is to put the oil pan back on the engine and fab up the motor mounts.

Thanks guys!

Well we finally got the oil pan and installed it. The new 2jz-gte I am using for the project now is super clean. So we put the flywheel on, and go to install the torque converter, only 3 of the 6 bolts have the correct pattern! Then we try to just mock it up with 3 bolts on the torque converter, and we go to put the trans on the engine with the torque converter installed, but it will not go on! The bell housing bolt pattern on the adaptor plate is 1/3" higher then what it should be in relation to the engine bolt pattern! They made a big mistake in making the adaptor. So they are going to make another adaptor, at their cost obviously, but now it's taking even more time to get this thing put together. Oh well, **** happens I guess. If it wouldn't have taken 5 times longer to make the f-ing adaptor in the beginning, it wouldn't be so bad!

I contimplated just calling my credit card company and disputing the charges on the transmission adapter and parting out the car and selling the engine..... for like 5 minutes..... but then I thought "I can not fail! The project MUST go on!!!"

The Jaguar WILL live again with 2jz power!
