Purchasing a 95 XJS V-12

Looks great from photos, if the mechanical condition is as good as bodywork appears then it would seem to be great value.
As PTJS1 has said the car would be worth much more in UK.
I just did a random search for a 1995 V12 XJS convertible in UK, came across one with far higher mileage for £32500 ( US $39700)

Sorry. Forgot to update. So, I went to see it and the paint needed a respray. Lots of chips, door dings and scratches. Pics did a fabulous job of hiding them. It also had some other usual problems (hood not opening on both sides when released, top hiting the back seats, rear quarter windows not opening and wheel alignment needed) I low balled them and they said no and they said that a fella from Germany already committed to the purchase if I didn't take it. So I passed and I kind of regret it because it was a fair offer.

If you are in America do not be fooled by the XJS' supply and cost ratio that we have been use to seeing. The time will come when a nice late low mileage XJS in America will no longer be available here for under $15K (you are already seeing this happen with the late convertibles). Our friends in Europe, Australia etc. already know this reality.

Hi mannymux et al,
Just looking at this post and the threads that go with it.
I was looking on cars.com, auto trader, or one of those sorts of sites recently and this car came up on there. It had the facility to look at the car fax for this vehicle and I think I noticed on there that there appeared to be something in there that the mileage had a blip in at some point if I recall correctly.
I also seem to recall that there was something in the history about it being checked for overheating, which would fit in with the extra gauge.
I am not trying to put anyone off the vehicle, just giving them the heads up.
If I was the East side of the US I would certainly be taking a long and hard look at the vehicle, it does look in great condition, and in my opinion is one of the best color combinations. At that price it seems to me worth a very hard look at the very least. it is a rare beast to be sure, hope if anyone on here does purchase the vehicle they keep us posted.
