Default Radiator? What's this?

I guess I could contact the group/vendor but are they saying this is just for XJS with a manual transmission?

Hi Jay

The Auto Version would probably incorporate a Tranny Oil Cooler

It is called that because it does not have the transmission cooler coil in the RHS tank. Those of us who have sensibly followed the Great XJS Prophet of the Southern Cross have fitted external tranny coolers, so it does not matter not having the rad cooler fittings.

Great! The difference in price is very inviting and it seems a trans fluid cooler can be had, cheaply... For this unit, what about banjo fitting at top right, the top O rad cross tube, the bleeder and such. Would one just go have a welder install threading for those in the new rad? Could I just be missing something in these photos...?

Good spot, it does not have the bleed holes, which you must have. Best to buy one with the holes already in it, say I.
But why do you need a rad, is your car overheating? If so recoring what you have is the best option, normally.

Nah she's not overheating. Not even close. Unless it is an unusually hot day, even on long drives, the needle doesn't go above N and often will stay well below.

I just happened across the $380 rad, the rad without the trans cooler, and the significant price difference between it and rads with coolers surprised me a bit so I posted it. Since, in looking for similar rads, I've seen even cheaper WITH the threaded spouts for bleeding and such.... At the time I WAS searching for a core, and haven't found one and don't know where or how. Anyone have a link would be GREAT...?

I like the idea of a separate trans fluid cooler, I would guess mounted right up front. And for the rad, for now, I'll just leave well enough alone. Still, I know the car sat up for many many years, outside, and with fluids in the coolant system - mostly water ratio. What came out of the rad and coolant tank wasn't pretty.

Anyone with info on just the core?

My trans cooler, type and location, as advised by Grant. It is hanging off the horizontal panel and is just above the extra cooling slot, so not dirtying that airstream. It is extremely effective, and out of the danger zone of stone damage:

Makes perfect sense! Definitely on the list! Actually, the one you have there is very similar if not the same as the one(s) I was looking at. Now I have a spot! Thank you, Man!

Headed out to deal with some wiring and re-wiring today! Wish me luck, haha. Battery disconnected, of course.

Looks like a cheap knock off. If you click on see others the Worley 2013 radiators come up and have seen that brand on the Australian Ebay site too. Assuming they are cheaply made somewhere. Not sure what brand in my car is but appears to be from BeCool because the cross flow tube is alu as well and the relay wiring shows the same colors.

Any rad shop should be able to recore and sure up your existing rad its what I ended up doing after years of running hotter than I'd like.

Thanks Van... I hate to say it, but here around NYC I end up more than less frustrated everytime I bring my machines to a shop. Could be that I simply haven't found the right shop and/or I need to head out into New Jersey and see what I can find. I don't know if it's always been this way,,, but for me, so far, lots in NYC just seems like hackjob central...
