Question Radio wiring - Clarion

Hello guys,
I had a Clarion DAC 4066 OEM radio. I am upgrading because I would like a CD player, whilst keeping the original radio incase I want the original look.
I need to decipher which wires do what. The speaker wires are all luckily labelled. Please can you help me with the remaining 4 wires, one is purple, 2 have alight red stripe on white and one is red. Also there is an earth strap.

Looking forward to hearing back. Thanks

Hi Duke

Many Aftermarket Stereos all use the Same Colour Wiring

If you have a look at Page:20 (Link Below) of my 'Cherry Blossom' Restoration Thread, there is a Step by Step Guide to Fitting an Aftermarket Stereo including lots of Photos and maybe as importantly an easy to understand Wiring diagram

Also Jaguar have now brought out, modern Stereos with a Jaguar Retro Look

Fitting an Aftermarket Stereo in an XJS Step by Step Guide including Photos and an easy to understand Colour Coded Wiring Diagram

Hi,
Thank you for this, I think I can figure it out now. 1. on the list has a 5amp fuse and then little plastic box that says clarion on the wire. Its close to the radio so I left it with the radio. Should I use these two part with my new radio?

Thanks

Yes. That little plastic box is some sort of interference suppressor, I think.

As I live and BREATHE - it bloody worked! Thanks I could not have done it without you! I bought this car radio from a charity shop for £5 in 2015. No idea if it worked at the time and took a chance. It did! Had it in my MINI for a couple of years. I think it looks really good and blends quite nicely. Like the idea of the Jag classic radio, happy with this for now!!!!!!

I have the original radio with all the connections just incase I want that original feel again

Hi Duke

Well done

There is definitely a 'Retro Feel' about it and looks great!

Ok so I've been out testing my new radio. Love it works well, however it does not remember my bass and treble settings or where the CD stopped. It resets every time I turn on the car. There is one spare wire at the back of the radio, should I combine it with one of the other wires to solve this?

what color is the wire. There should be a constant power wire that is used to save the memory settings etc.

If you program a radio station in does it lose that too?

Rescue
Take a look at the pdf I posted. There is a constant power wire in the loom. Whether it has been used or not, I have no idea!

Literally got the wire crossed, switched the antenna with the other live wire and it works, keeps the settings and is just brilliant!!!! I so happy with the outcome. Pictures to follow. Really happy with the style of the radio. Its from 2004!

Big thank you to you guys and your help.
