Default Reality sets in “GOOD BYE XJS” ?

To All,

Well it’s been a great run…..ALMOST 10 YEARS!!!!

It’s probably time to say good bye to the next best thing to my wife and family….My 1996 XJS!

Two (2) weeks ago I another heart attack. This is in addition to my OPEN HEART surgery 11 yrs. Ago.

I need to alter my life style if I want to make it any further.

NO MORE CLIMBING IN…ON… OR UNDER MY XJS.

MY QUESTION TO THE GROUP IS:

How is our website for selling vehicles?

any other options besides

1. Ebay
2. Bring a trailer

Thanks

I'm so sorry to hear about your heart! I hope everything is on the way up now.

I'd start with posting it here, and also submit to BaT and see if they'll take it and post it. Of course, I would read the fine print on commission charges.

BaT seems to bring the potential for the best price??

Vee,

Thanks for the response.

Please understand that I am not looking for sympathy but to let you and all the other “GREAT ENTHUSIASTS” know that my selling the XJS WAS NOT BECAUSE I AM DISSATISFIED.

THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE FANTASTIC!!!!!!!

No matter what the situation, it's never an easy decision to part with a Jaguar.

I'm just over the bridge, but light years from considering another Jaguar.
No garage, no money and too old and fat to own one.

Proceeded with caution. Selling a used car can be more stressful than keeping it or anything else. As a member of the cardiac club I'd like to know what counts as positive life style alteration in this case? A FSD Tesla? Black Escalade with a Chauffer? Uber?

icsamerica,

My cardiologist doesn’t want me on my back trying to wrestle the entire catalytic/exhaust system back into place.

DON’t know if I can stop!!!!!.

I think I have seen your photo on one (1) of the discussions regarding “GAS TANK REMOVAL” on the XJS at the track………IF THAT WAS YOU, YOU ARE PROBABLY 30 YEARS YOUNGER…..OH…..wouldn’t it be nice to be your age again.

Hi Paul

Sorry to hear about your situation. I'm 73, so I can understand your situation. I will still work on top of the vehicle, but I don't crawl under it anymore. I've developed neuropathy in my legs (and I'm not even diabetic) somehow, which really slows your mobility down. I also will likely have to sell my beloved 96' XJS in a couple years. I've owned it for 23 years. When it's properly sorted, it is an absolute pleasure to drive.

If you have a Jaguar club near your area, you might try that first. Best to you Paul. Getting old is a PITA.

Rick

Good luck Paul. I am 75 and conscious of time running....
We all have to make sensible decisions, eventually, and sadly.

rickr, greg,

Guys,

Thanks for the response. It’s great to hear from all the senior members. Getting older is definitely a “Bitch”

Believe me when I tell you that I am not trying to turn this into a “pity party”.

MY XJS IS IN FANTASTIC SHAPE. Early this year I was offered $14k. Was not ready to sell. All I want is $15k.

COLLECTOR CAR STATUS SOON AS XKE’S ARE SIX FIGURES…..NOTHING BUT UPSIDE FOR THE. XJS!!!°

1. Calling the Jaguar club is a good idea. I dropped my membership years ago.
2. From what I see the big money is overseas. Anyone have experience with a broker or for selling overseas…..specifically England, Germany, France and Australia. I saw some values last year of xjs jags in Australia going for big money &$40 to 60k.
3. I will compare my 115k miles against any driven class xjs vehicle….numerous trophy’s, either 1st or second.
4. Photos if requested

Thanks

Softball60/Paul

Good luck Paul. I've enjoyed following your experiences on the forum and you will be missed here. Reading about everyone's advancing ages (I'm 75), all I can say is that some younger enthusiasts are going to have some fines cars to pick from soon. It's that time of life for us so let's enjoy as long as we can.

Yes, should be most interesting. It seems our XJS's are inching their way upward in price, especially the late model 4.0 convertibles. Apparently, prices are moving up much faster in Countries other than the U.S. (?)
