Rear Badges

Rear Badges
Hi guys.
A few months ago I was a bit silly and got some Chrome cleaner on my V12 badge on the rear, RH side of my boot. Crap. Didnt realises it was just plastic with chrome coloured paint (am i the only first timer to do this?)
Anyway, having a hell of a time trying to source both the XJS and V12 badges.
I tried Jag Daim and they mentioned they can make up chrome ones but it would take a few months. Last time I called they still weren't available or started as they have a 3rd party that makes them up or something. (Apparently it is a little involved)
Anyways i got a show n shine soon (see all Euro Day thread for Lakeside) so wanted to get some post haste.
Any clues for Oz or is it easier to just get em from the UK?
Also how the hell do you take them off? I opened up the boot and it seems you have to take the whole bloody boot apart to get into the inner wall. Any clues here? I can see light getting through on the badge from the inside so it is attached somehow, not glued.
Thanks in advance

Here's the XJS new.

On my old set I went to the hobby store and bought some silver "leaf" sheets and used that, looked better then the "rubbed off" look they were.

Yes, there's a thin rubber layer on the back with a red plastic covering you pull off to expose the sticky.

You can leave them in place, the leaf I bought came with an adhesive in a bottle you lightly spread over the flat surface of the badge then after it became tacky you applied the leaf over it, pressed, then pulled the paper off and used a dry paint brush to remove any excess, the silver only clings to the area with the adhesive.

You could also give Paul's Jag a try if you haven't called them- they seem to carry most anything XJS related. I've ordered some random interior bits from them, as well as new OEM lug nuts for my Starfish alloys. Website isn't great, so don't bother and just give them a call.

Update:
Did a quick search and quickly got frustrated that these seemed impossible to find. FINALLY found a retailer that appears to have some. Welsh Enterprises. See below.
V12: http://www.welshent.com/product_info...th=985_987_989
XJS: http://www.welshent.com/product_info...th=985_987_989
The catch? About $100 for the pair..

paulyling,
The XJ-S badge that you want is still available from Jaguar. It's part number BCC3665, price if collected from your local Aussie Jaguar Dealer is AUS$ 89.07. See here:
Badge-Emblem-Coupe - Parts For XJS from (V)139052 to (V)179736 | Jaguar Heritage Parts AU
Hope that helps

I repainted the XJS badge on our XJS after the car got a paint job.
The paint shops don't seem to care about retaining the badges.
I was there when they "scraped" the XJS badge off of the trunk with a nylon
type of tool and I snagged it before they could toss it.
Fortunately, the 94 used an adhesive to hold the badge on.
I spray painted the badge with a Krylon brand Gold Chrome paint for plastic and
then used the adhesive that is used to hold weather striping on to the doors.
The Gold Paint job came out great and a year later the adhesive is still holding up.
I liked it so much I painted the other badges the same way. Now I have Gold badges
on the "Oyster" color paint job which is a sort of gold/bronze color.
You could outline the badges with a black paint using a fine paintbrush to give it
a more 3-D look.

Cheers guys. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Gonna check out the art stores today.
Did a a fair bit of ringing around originally and all the Jag places I talked to said they were hard to get, so not sure why they couldnt just order them from the UK for me?
The last bloke I rang was getting chrome ones made up which would be cool however his 3rd party manufacturer is real behind or something so its taking forever.
If I cant find my silver tape think imma just order them myself and forget the Jag parts dealer

paulyling,
If the Jaguar dealers are saying they can't get them (The XJS one), they are just being lazy. All they have to do is call it up on their parts system and order it! If they still won't do it, just order it online from Jaguar Heritage for delivery to your local dealer for collection.
