Although you have a coupe, here is a link to a '95 convertible thats been converted. Maybe a call to them can offer some clarity on how it was done. From the pictures, it looks like a pretty tidy job.

Yeah, his levels are very rich. I guess he can't be bothered to help. Its does look like a good job, thought it would at least give you a starting point for some ideas. It shouldn't be that hard to do...

The correct box from an XJ-S is available on EBay for 200 dollars- question is if it would drop into your car or not after having it reupholstered to match your interior....
I considered this modification in my own car, but ultimately decided the rear useless seats are part of the cars character, and reupholstered them in new leather.
