Rebuild Tachometer and Speedometer

I have a quick question. My speedo still doesn't work and I've done everything (in my limited knowledge) to fix it...
What if a section of wire were run directly from the plug on the back of the cluster to the input post on the back of the mounted speedometer? Bypass the printed circuit...?

I ended up finding out that something happened inside the tank, where the sender is no longer allowed to travel high enough to send a signal moving the needle to F when Full. (more info than needed)
