Refitting Rubber Doors Seals. What Adhesive?
I am putting my xjs back together after work on various bits of rust repair, including repairs to the scuttle and around the windscreen.
I had to remove all the stainless steel trim around the screen and the rubber door seals had to come off.
Question.. Do I glue the door seals when I put them back? If so what product do I use.
Thanks.

You will need a soap solution or similar rubber lube, a probe or hook like tool and some patience.

I had spotted the channel along the bottom, rear and wing section of the seal/opening. The channel along the A pillar and below the roof is part of a single aluminium extrusion that I removed. It's a while since I took it all out to get the work done. It looks like there's some foam/double sided tape between the aluminium extrusion and below the roof, although this is fixed with screws as well. I presume this is for weather sealing. Thers's also a big dollop of old sealant in the top rear corner of the door ope.

I have had the window chrome out, so the channel holding the door seal along the A pillar and along the top of the door also came out as well.
There is a huge amount of gunk on the rear of the channel and the door opening.
I have discovered that this is what is left of a 'sealing strip' part number BBC8265.
This is an adhesive backed foam strip, two lengths of which are applied between the aluminium channel that holds the door seal and the the top and A pillar of the door opening.
It is item 15 in the attached parts diagram.
