Removing air pump, air cleaner assy, a/c pump.
removing from My 86 XJS The air pump, which most likely hasn't worked for years, rust and dirt came out when i removed it. what related items can also be removed. removing A/C compressor, and lines. Also removing fuel cooler which has not worked for probably 10 years. Air cleaner assemblies are being replaced with K&N style system, (like the set on ebay from "faster jags") what can be eliminated. I know I must use the air temp sensor, what else?. Any assistance would be appreciated....

My memory is a bit foggy on all the intricate details of a V12 engine bay, but.....
You don't want to remove the vacuum/electric enrichment switch....blue/white, to the right of the throttle capstain.
There's an Extra Air Valve in the backside of the RH air cleaner housing. It increases idle speed when the a/c compressor is engaged. Since you don't have a compressor the EAV can go.
If you want you can eliminate all the switches and valves pertaining to the vacuum advance and simply run your advance off a ported vacuum source. I must say that there isn't universal agreement on doing so, but I and others have done so with good results.
All that being said.....
If you haven't already done so I'd suggest getting the service and parts manuals and study up on what everything is and what it does. There's a LOT of "stuff" in the V12 engine bay....you obviously don't want to get rid of something essential which, of course, is the point of your post.
Or wait for someone with a better memory than mine to come along, which might be not be a very long wait :-)
Cheers
