Removing fuel rail/injectors

What is the proper process/steps for removing fuel rail and injectors?
I read the green book, but the description there is a bit confusing and diagrams hard to read.
Is it better to disconnect the fuel lines (LHS and RHS) by unbolting at the rail or by unbolting at the fuel pressure regulators?

Carefully slice away at the hoses at both ends until the hoses can be removed from the injectors and the rail. Time consuming and boring. Try not to nick the barbed fittings with whatever slicing tool you are using.
Some use a soldering iron to melt the rubber instead. I haven't found this method to work any faster but maybe that's just me
Cheers
