Replacement TPS 1996 XJS 4.0L

Hi There,
As yours would be a AJ series engine, fully manufactured by Jaguar, I would say it's highly unlikely that a Ford TPS would fit without at least some modification. Even then it may be dubious whether it would communicate properly with the ECU. I stand to be corrected on this one but you would be better off in my opinion going with a genuine Jag product.
Cheers,
Cubist

Does the TPS for this Model yr XJS also fit other Jaguar Models?
I know do 5 or 6 jags sitting in a pick your part yard. Might be worth getting a couple if they work
Thanks

Oddly enough, I had inherited a used and untested spare from a low mileage parts car. Seemed to make no difference between the two, which I found odd, and ended up throwing other parts at the problem, until I circled back (when all else essentially failed), bought a new one and poof! problem disappeared.
I think these sensors might go with age. Any part you pull will be at least 23 years old. It was time.

Sure looks like a Sierra 2.9

I have not checked the cross reference numbers on this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kerr-Nels...mzV:rk:14:pf:0

I definitely saw a pic of someone using a TPS from another car, unfortunately cant remember what it was and cant seem to find it now. That sierra TPS looks exactly the same as Jag unit though and looks cheap enough to give it a try. TPS is just a potentiometer so anything with a 0-5V range and similar pinout and curve should work fine in there(Ford Puma one possibly), just a matter of actually mounting it to the TB.
V12 TPS can be easily replaced with a TPS from a Mustang, its basically the same TPS in a slight different body so cant see why it would be different with AJ16.

I used one for years on my '88 XJS V12; worked fine. Minor mods needed for fitment. A couple hours of easy fiddling on a Saturday.
More recently I had one on my present V12 and worked well but it failed after about a year. Tried another but couldn't get the closed voltage low enough; went another direction after that.
I've gathered, perhaps incorrectly, that the Fords of the era happy with about .5v at closed throttle and the TPSs are designed for that. It might be luck of the draw...production variances.... to find a Ford TPS that'll yield the .32-.36v that the older V12s need.
I dunno what voltage the AJ16 needs to see at closed throttle
Cheers
