Guess there's a lot of "don't care" sentiment out there!
Or, a lot of people like me, who don't have a horse in this race (but still find the Poll interesting), and therefore don't feel we have any right to vote about it.

I feel like the xjs is a different enough thing to have its own area. If its an engine problem then we should just refer to the proper thread in particular.
Having areas for each engine across all models might be useful, but I think the investment in reworking the forum would negate the use.

I think one other consideration on splitting the forum, that is unique to the XJS, is the long production run which creates an endless list of possible split points. Pre-HE or later, Prince of Darkness or Italian Spaghetti, AJ6 or AJ16, Original or Facelift, British Leyland to Independence to Ford, etc.

A '75 V12 and '75 AJ6 have far more in common with each other, than the '75 V12 and a '95 V12 do. Or the '75 AJ6 does with it's more modern counterpoint. I think most XJS enthusiasts seem to know those differences intuitively, so we are most helpful as a collective of all the flavors.

Cheers

You took the words right out of my mouth Elinor.

Regardless I do have an opinion for what it's worth, I'd leave it as it is.

I think you're advocating "dumbing down" the forum by having a post from an owner that doesn't know what their car is. Please!

The POLL is now CLOSED and the result is overwhelmingly in favour of retaining the SINGLE forum for all XJS variants.

Thanks to all for the votes and opinions. There will be NO CHANGE.
