Would I disconnect the hb cable at the handle or at the rear end?

At the rear end, you pull the arms in a bit and pop out the further end of the cable from its arm. When refitting, for some reason the cable always shortens itself somehow on the lever mechanism inside. You need to ask a helper to pull the cable under the car hard, while you press in the button on the lever and pull the lever up and down. This somehow magically resets the cable correctly.

No CAN system (thank God) as far as I know,,, but I'm still learning...

And for reasons, I have had to pay attention to the instrument cluster lights and I haven't come across a light or lens/film image for the transmission. You mean a warning light? I don't think there is one?

No theres a bulb that lights the shifter so you can see what gear you are in. If you never took the shifter apart you would know is was there lol. Or I guess drive your car at night lol

Res...
Others with more experience will get into the nitty gritty BUT be very careful with what you DO (hopefully don't do) around that assembly... There is a HUGE amount of potential energy in that spring.

Sadly this is the truth:
You have to remove the springs, support the engine with a beam, then remove the subframe from the car. Then give it a good clean and blast (sand/glass etc). Then take a good look at it. The rusty bit is not particularly structural, the important bit is where the spring actually sits (above the rust in the photo).
If that part is all solid, and very important, the upright part of the subframe that leads up to the top and the top wishbone fulcrum, then weld in steel and all will be well - this is the part of the subframe at the back of the piece you show in the photo. Even if the upright part is rusty, steel can still be welded in. If on the other hand the thing is shot, buy a decent second hand one and build up the front suspension with lovely new bushes and bits!
I have done such welding and saved a subframe, it is do-able; but if too far gone, forget it and source another.

Ya I'm gonna get under tomorrow and look better. It was hidden. When I took the compressed air to it to clean for the new brake parts it was reviled. Had some mud covering it.

i was on dropping the front end later down the road to rebuild it anyways so not a major concern if that's the only spot.

Greg... if that's the only spot do you think I could weld it in place for now? Just enough to clean it up and get it to pass safety? I'm not a welder so I'd have to get someone to come over and do it.

I'll post pics tomorrow of the back side.

Hello Rescue

I sort of go with the - Geez - I just found this - wonder what else is hiding

Couple of links from the forum below

I think where you are going is that you want to drive it around, to check other parts of the car - so maybe put it on the 'to do" list and move on - but your call

Cheers

I've already read a bunch of forum threads on it. Basically this csr isnt going to be on the road for awhile. I'm just trying to get it where I can move it in and out of my garage as i need.

I know a place but due to this covid stuff I'm unable to get anything right that's significant in size.

Thanks for your input.

Didnt get a chance to look yesterday. I did get my brake parts in though. Just need to clean the rec room up and then I will head out and inspect some more.

Like I mentioned before even with the crack I just need to get the jag moveable so I can move it in and out if the garage.

I did find a front sub frame but it's about 800cdn or more with shipping. That was just on Ebay from the states. I'll check with the guy closer to me that have a scrape yard of jags.

his back yard.
